Dr Beyer did his undergraduate studies at The Ohio State University and then Denison University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He attended The Ohio State University College of Medicine and graduated in 1978. His internal medicine residency and fellowship in Endocrinology were at the University of Minnesota Hospitals, Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Endocrinology.

He was elected to both the Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha honors fraternities. He has interests in all areas of Endocrinology. He is a certified DEXA scan reader and holds his own 131I radioiodine license.
